The 1st London battalion went to Malta in September, 1914 as garrison troops before returning to England in February, 1915. The following month the battalion went to France to join 25 Brigade of 8th Division. Bertram Hughes died from wounds on 29th April, 1915 but unfortunately the battalion diary for this period is missing and there is no information concerning his death. |
